Creative DNA

What word or phrase would you use to describe your creative style or approach?

Sometimes odd, always cute.

Past & Present - Cringe!

Remember what it was like when you started? What work have you done that makes you cringe now?

The first item I ever made using fiber was a crocheted egg (I’m a big fan of “talur”). I was incredibly proud of it! I even gave it to my partner as a gift. As I made more items and my skills improved, I made another egg, again as a gift to my partner. When I gave it to him, he brought out my first egg and showed the two side by side. It turns out I had made the first egg inside out!

Do you have any advice for freelancers or those starting out in your creative field?

Jump in! I think before I decided to start doing crafts as my mode of creative expression, I was (and still sometimes am) scared of getting it wrong, or finding out I just can’t do it. The nice thing about fiber is that there is just so many different ways to manipulate its varied forms that skills and materials end up being transferable and by sticking with it, the body learns its own quirky way of getting to materialise our creative vision.
